Caring Hearts Grief Support Group

This support group is open to any family member who has lost a loved one in Mary Potter Hospice or the Palliative Home Care Service. Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except January) from 10am - 12noon (no evening group at this stage). Meetings are held in one of the two meeting rooms in Connery House (this building is located opposite the coffee shop) at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital.

Additional information

• There is no cost to attend, and no ongoing commitment is required. Come for one week or come every month – it is entirely up to you.
• We have started curating a library of grief-related books and leaflets that can be borrowed, to help provide additional support between meetings.
• All attendees will receive a copy of the booklet – Healing after Loss.

 

Format of Meetings

The format will include some structured content; however, being a ‘social’ grief group, the focus is all about coming together to learn, share (if willing), and meet others who know what you are going through.

 

Social grief groups can provide many benefits. These include:

• Help to normalise the intense impacts of grief
• Provide a safe, non-judgemental space for the griever to share his/her thoughts and struggles: and
• Provide a venue to grapple with the changes in identity, roles, and relationships.

 

Each meeting is run by the Counselling Service team from Mary Potter Hospice and assisted by Pastoral Care and Foundation staff.
