Walk for Love - held Sunday 1st June 2008.
The 7km walk commenced with Celebrity, Peter Goers firing the starting gun at the entrance of the Mary Potter Hospice, 89 Strangways Terrace, and continued through North Adelaide, concluding in Wellington Square. Walkers were greeted on completion by the smell of a Barbecue and fresh fruit, water and juices from our friends at Baa Moo Oink, Lenswood Cold Stores, Ralph Ceravolo, Piccadilly and Nippy's respectively.
The Annual Walk for Love celebrated its 21st anniversary in 2008. Over the years, many friends and relatives have walked in memory of loved ones who have passed away at the Mary Potter Hospice. Individuals, Families and even the family dog is welcome to participate-all welcome!!
We thank our long term sponsor of the walk, Paint Supplies of SA for its ongoing support, and the friendly staff from ETSA Utilities who volunteer and help us on the day.
We welcomed new friends along from Baa Moo Oink Butchers, who generously donated all of the delicious sausages for the Barbecue. Over $1000.00 was raised from the sausage Sizzle alone!
Thanks also go to our new friends at Fridge it refrigerated couriers, who generously transported all of our chilled produce to the Foundation from across the city at no charge.
The 2008 Walk for Love raised close to $30,000.00, so our sincere thanks to all the walkers and sponsors!
Much needed funds are generated from the Sponsorship money raised from the Walk, and trophies and certificates are awarded at our Annual General Meeting, based an amounts raised.
