High Tea with Ita

The Mary Potter Foundation was honoured to have Ita Buttrose AO, OBE as our guest speaker for our annual High Tea, held October 2009. Ita was wonderful, sharing many humorous and intriguing stories about her career. Guests thoroughly enjoyed Itas presentation, and the standing ovation she received really moved her. The High Tea, and the days raffle raised over $8000 for the Mary Potter Hospice. Our thank you to Ita was a signature Mary Potter Rose sent to Ita, and she kindly took the time to drop us a line to thank us.

‘Dear Michelle

My Mary Potter rose is slowly adapting to life in Sydney.  I had a wonderful time with you all at the High Tea. I think the concept is a brilliant way to do a fundraiser and it was such a fun event with so much laughter that I, like all of the guests I’m sure, left feeling on top of the world. For me, it was one of the nicest, happiest events of 2009. Thank you!

All the best to you and everyone at The Mary Potter Foundation, Ita’

Our thanks to all of our event sponsors, and our wonderful guests and volunteers for their support.

'High Tea with Mary Moody'

The Mary Potter Foundation was fortunate to have well known author and television personality Mary Moody join us for an afternoon tea fundraiser for the Mary Potter Hospice. The High Tea was hosted in beautiful private gardens at Medindie in November 2008, with over 110 Guests enjoying a delightful afternoon of High tea and conversation with Mary.

Over $6000.00 was raised from ticket sales, our raffle and part proceeds of copies of Mary's latest book 'The Long Table' that were sold on the day, thanks to our friends at ACP Books (Mary's publishers). These proceeds will renovate the much used Family room inside the Hospice. Many South Australian families will benefit from this fundraiser.

Wild Hibiscus - Flowers in syrup

Thank you also to the ETSA Utilities Employee Foundation, who assisted us with the project in the capacity of hiring the outdoor furniture and associated items, and a few volunteers on the day. Having this corporate assistance enabled the majority of the proceeds raised to be kept for the project. Of course a big thank you to the volunteers of the Mary Potter Foundation as well, for without them, events such as this would not be possible.

Our friends at the The Wild Hibiscus Flower Company generously donated the delicious hibiscus flowers for the champagne given to guests on arrival. Click here for further information on their products.

Thank you Mary for your generosity in assisting us with this fundraiser, from a very grateful charity, and all of your friends and fans here in Adelaide.

Many beautiful pieces of art, sculpture and jewellery was displayed over the exhibition. The Mary Potter Foundation is very appreciative to be the recipients of this years proceeds.

The Glenside Lions chose the Foundation as the beneficiary of the 2007 Annual Art Show.

The President of the Lions Club of Glenside, John Hillman handed the keys of the new Mary Potter Hospice Outreach vehicle to Elizabeth Clare, the Executive Director of The Mary Potter Foundation last October.

The car will be used by the Outreach staff of the Hospice to care for terminally ill patients who are receiving care from Mary Potter in their own homes.

The vehicle was purchased with the $17,000  raised from the 2007 Lions Club of Glenside Art Show.

Anniversary Dinner - 'A Night of Wine and Roses'

A wonderful night was had by guests and sponsors who attended our black tie dinner, held in August 2007 celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Mary Potter Foundation (MPF). Over $83,000.00 was raised through ticket sales, sponsorship and proceeds from our main and silent auction.

Our MC for the evening, Jane Doyle did a tremendous job, and we are very grateful for her support. The Lindy Hip Big Band provided wondeful entertainment, and guests were treated to a special and moving performance by Tenor Tasso Bouyessis, and soprano, Anna-Maria Beni.
