A warm and comforting welcome to the Hospice
Thanks to the skill, dedication and generosity of quilters from all over South Australia, the Hospice is able to gift a handmade quilt to every patient shortly after they arrive at Mary Potter.
Nothing says ‘Welcome’ more than a brand new, beautifully made, decorative quilt.
Quilts serve many purposes including keeping patients warm and bringing colour into their stark hospital room. But beyond this, quilts send a message of love and support to patients and families. To know that there are many caring people who care about them brings much comfort at a difficult and challenging time.
Thank you to all the quilters who drop into our office throughout the year with anything from one quilt to bags and bags of quilts. It is a joy to open each one and to prepare them ready for delivery to the Hospice.
Your efforts are very much appreciated and part of the fabric of what we call ‘Mary Potter Care’.
When a patient is admitted to the Hospice, they are offered a selection of hand-made quilts from a friendly volunteer like Gaby (pictured). They then can choose the one they would like to keep.
