A sweet as social life
Janet was a social butterfly from way back. Kind hearted and easy to chat to, it’s easy to see what attracted great friends to Janet.
A social butterfly from way back. Kind hearted and easy to chat to, it’s easy to see what attracted great friends to Janet.
She had been well known for being a superstar at bringing people together at social events, elaborate dinner parties and barbecue gatherings.
When Janet arrived in March, she knew it was unlikely that she would be around to celebrate her 60th birthday in November. With this in mind, it was a priority for her to organise one last ‘hurrah’ for her dear friends who were looking forward to another one of Janet’s much loved parties.
The Hospice team caught on to Janet’s plans and knew they could help her by offering a nice big room to host a high tea like you have never seen before!
It was all organised by Janet. Carefully selected sweet treats, gourmet savoury food as well as fresh flowers and matching helium balloons that decorated the room. It was a lovely afternoon enjoyed by more than 40 of Janet’s close friends. A memory and gift that will last her friends a lifetime.
Even though Janet was dying, there was no sign of her social life slowing down. She’d be out most weekends, visiting friends and watching the football.
The team here ensured she continued to live every day, every hour spending time with friends and popping in and out of the Hospice as much as possible.
In memory of Janet Harper who passed away in the Mary Potter Hospice in July 2016.
