Cathy Murphy - BMgmt (Mktg) MFIA -Executive Director

Cathy Murphy is the Executive Director for The Mary Potter Foundation commencing in August 2009. 

Cathy has spent the past 12 years working within the not-for-profit sector in management and marketing roles with both local and national charities.  Cathy feels privileged to lead The Mary Potter Foundation team to support the wonderful care and programs of the Mary Potter Hospice and Calvary Cancer Services. Cathy is motivated by the ability to deliver a positive impact to people’s lives. 

Cathy’s other great motivation is in working with people who are passionate about what they do. She believes that achieving success is linked to shared values and goals, ‘can do’ attitudes and open minds to new ideas.  Working in an industry where trust, ethics and transparency are vital, she advocates a ‘do the right thing and you’ll get the right results’ approach.

Cathy’s earlier career was within the advertising industry which led to her desire for formal qualifications in marketing. It was while studying her Bachelor of Management as a mature student that Cathy made the decision to make a career switch that would see her work for organisations where making a difference was the focus.

Cathy is married with two daughters.

Michelle Jewels-Parsons DipFund Mgmt, MFIA.- Fundraising Manager

Michelle commenced with the Foundation in August 2004, and is the Fundraising Manager. She has completed the Diploma of Fundraising Management and is a member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia with a history of studies in bereavement care, grief and loss. Michelle liaises with supporters and corporate friends with supporting the Hospice and co-ordinates the Foundation's fundraising events and Galas. She is also responsible for Bequests, and writing grant funding and award proposals for the Foundation.

Michelle's other great motivation is working with people who are also extremely passionate about ethical fundraising, and Michelle prides herself on her 'everything is possible' life motto. She has a strong ethos of 'paying it forward'. Empowering other women in the community is something also very important to Michelle, and she is proudly a voluntary Board member of a local Womens Community Centre.

Michelle's earlier career was within the corporate telecommunications industry. It was then Michelle knew she was meant to work to assist others, and really make a tangible difference to the community. This lead to Michelle undertaking formal qualifications in Fundraising, and working with the Mary Potter Foundation.

Michelle is married to Richard and together they have 5 sons.

 

 

Paula Martin - Accounts & Lottery Coordinator

Paula has been with the Mary Potter Foundation since January 2006, and is responsible for book-keeping and accountancy duties for the Foundation, including coordinating the Telethon lottery. Paula has a history of studies with Accountancy and bookkeeping, and oversees the donor database, donations and administration area. Paula also assists with our fundraising events.

In her previous career Paula worked in the Pathology industry facilitating payroll and accounts.

Paula is motivated by surrounding herself with like minded people, who also value truth, honesty and prides herself on her dedicated work philosophy. Family is very important to Paula, and she treasures the time she has with them.

Paula feels her work at the Mary Potter Foundation allows her to contribute to an organisation that really makes a difference to the community, allowing people to die with dignity.

Paula has 2 children.

 

Lyn Hendry- Administration Officer

Lyn commenced with the Foundation in July 2008 and is employed part-time. Lyn assists with the processing of our donations and general administrative work for the Foundation.

In her previous career Lyn was a property manager for several real estate companies, and she also has management experience facilitating and implementing appeals working for another large not-for-profit agency.

Lyn is motivated by working with people who also appreciate individual importance, and that everyone brings a unique gift to the community.

Lyn believes her work with the Mary Potter Foundation is an opportunity of giving back and makes a real impact on those who need it most. Lyn lives with her partner, and has 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
