HPS Pharmacies

Pictured above are Anthea Heal & Louise Finnane from the Calvary Biography program

HPS Pharmacies’ community extends across a diverse range of people and health issues. From illnesses and disease states for general medical/surgical reasons to heart, liver or kidney disease, cancer, burns victims, physical disability, psychiatric, aged care, correctional, maternity and babies. With such an enormous community to support, we understand and recognise the very pivotal role we hold as an organisation and continually look for services to provide or ways to support health organisations which give directly back to our community.

HPS are proud to be the major sponsor of the Calvary Biography Program. Many families have received a priceless gift thanks to the Calvary Biography service and the wonderful volunteers who make it all happen. Telling the story is secondary. It is what happens to a patient through the telling of their story that is first and foremost. It is about reminding people of what they have done, that who they are has made a difference and that their lives have been meaningful. Age is not relevant in the sharing of a life story – a young mum wanting to share with her children or an elderly man who has lived a full and long life.

A biography brings a welcome affirmation of the value of each person’s life. This service is operated totally by volunteers.

HPS Pharmacies Partner and Chief Operating Officer Kirsten Boyce says HPS is delighted to partner with The Mary Potter Foundation as sponsor of the Biography Program.

'We believe that supporting the Biography Program is having a tremendous life impact on the individuals and families involved' Kirsten says. 'This positive contribution is coming at what is usually a distressing time for families' says Kristen.

HPS is Australia's leading supplier of pharmacy to private hospitals and is a rapidly growing employer of professional pharmacists with 350 employees nationally.

ETSA Utilities

The Mary Potter Foundation values its long term corporate partnership with ETSA Utilities. The support we receive in financial as well as volunteer support from the ETSA staff is greatly appreciated. Being a South Australian charity we are proud to be associated with a great South Australian company.

The 2009 (SA) Premiers Business Award in volunteering

At the 2009 National Volunteer day celebrations, the Honorable Mike Rann, Premier SA announced the Mary Potter Foundation was successful in its nomination of ETSA Utilities for the 2009 Premiers Business Award in volunteering.

This award has been created to recognise the valuable contribution of the business sector to the community through its support of volunteering. ETSA Utilities has supported the Mary Potter Foundation, and the community in various ways, such as releasing their employees to volunteer during business hours, corporate volunteering initiatives, donation programs and financial assistance to events such as the annual lighting of the Loving Tree.

The Mary Potter Foundation is proud of its association with ETSA, and congratulates it on its well deserved recognition.

ETSA Utilities

The Mary Potter Foundation appreciates the support it has received from ETSA Utilities since it commenced sponsoring our 'Lighting of the Loving Tree' in 1999.

ETSA Utilities believes that community engagement extends beyond its efficient and reliable supply of electricity throughout the state. A key part of their community engagement is its support of community groups, events and programs that contribute to the quality of life for South Australians.

ETSA Utilities is pleased to sponsor the Mary Potter Foundation's Loving Tree, which serves as a memorial to loved ones who are unable to be with us at Christmas.

The Coopers Brewery Foundation

The RESTORE program has received a much needed funding boost thanks to a $15,000 grant from the Coopers Brewery Foundation. The RESTORE program brings much needed support to patients undergoing treatment for cancer, and is the initiative of Oncologists, Dr’s Tony Michele and Tabitha Healey. Together they developed the unique RESTORE program – a wellness and supportive care program designed to help patients live as well as possible during and beyond cancer treatment.

The Coopers Brewery Foundation was established to provide additional focus on their social commitment. As a family-owned business, they understand the importance of supporting families and individuals in their time of need.

They aim to improve and protect the quality of life of Australians by providing support to charitable organisations with recognised strengths in medical research and health care, in youth education, and aged care, and in fostering family and community support, based on Christian values. The Foundation operates in such a way that every dollar donated is distributed to worthy charitable projects, with all costs of the Foundation met by Coopers Brewery Limited. Coopers Brewery also donates income received from brewery tours, recycling and special events directly to their Foundation.

Thank you Coopers for your committed community spirit.

Australian Executor Trustees

Australian Executor Trustees have been wonderful supporters of The Mary Potter Foundation Inc over a number of years, with distribution of funds from their annual discretionary trust - making a real and lasting difference to the lives of thousands of families that The Mary Potter Hospice supports.

The BankSA Staff Charitable Fund

BankSA

BankSA is a major supporter of charities within South Australia and the Northern Territory. These funds are primarily provided through the BankSA & Staff Charitable Fund.

The Fund was established in 1941, when staff of the Savings Bank of South Australia (BankSA’s predecessor) decided to send comfort parcels to colleagues serving in the armed forces in the Middle East.

Staff agreed to donate part of their salary toward the purchase of items that would provide some comfort to serving staff. These items included socks, coffee, tea, chocolate and copies of local papers.
At the completion of the war and following the return of service men and women, staff of the Bank agreed to continue to provide financial support. Staff decided to assist various returned service leagues and other organisations that were established to support service men, women and their immediate families.

The BankSA Staff Charitable Fund has been generously supporting The Mary Potter Foundation for 15 years, and we thank them for their commitment and loyal support. Click here to go to the BankSA Website.

There are many ways that Corporate Groups and businesses can assist the work of the Mary Potter Hospice through the Mary Potter Foundation.

  • Cash gifts or donations

Donating money towards the purchase of specific items of medical equipment. Donations of $2 or more to the Mary Potter Foundation are tax deductible.

  • Cause-related marketing and special events

Participation in fundraising and public relations events (such as our Walk for Love) and promotions designed to raise funds for a specific purpose, building works, equipment purchases etc. This type of support often includes a cash donation as well as offering your organisation’s expertise in marketing and promotional initiatives.

  • Payroll deductions and gift matching

Some organisations have "adopted" the Mary Potter Foundation, by encouraging their staff to consider regular and small deductions from their pay, which are then transferred electronically to our banking account. These employee contributions are tax deductible. Matching their employees’ commitment to the Mary Potter Foundation, companies will often match (dollar for dollar), the level of support provided by their staff.

  • Gifts in Kind & Pro Bono Services

Businesses that may not be in the position to provide a cash gift, often demonstrate their support by donating some of their products or services. This may be the provision of a raffle prize, the provision of other items which might otherwise be an operational or event management expense to the Foundation, or by providing their technical and professional skills free of charge.

  • Staff / Community Group Fundraising

Local businesses and community groups sometimes choose to run a company function or social event (e.g. golf day, BBQ, Dinner Dance or Trivia Night). Proceeds from such occasions are then passed onto the Mary Potter Foundation.

  • Volunteering

Several organisations have provided their employees with both the time and encouragement to volunteer their talents in support of The Mary Potter Hospice, through projects organised with the Mary Potter Foundation.

If you or your company are interested in discussing ways you might be able to help the Mary Potter Foundation, please call us on 08 8239 0119.

Together we can make a difference.
