Bequests
Leave more than just a memory....
Many people earmark a specific amount to be left as a bequest to the Mary Potter Foundation after they have passed away. Bequests left to the Foundation are greatly appreciated and can often be used for specific purposes such as education, training or research.
We urge you to ensure that you have a valid Will, as many Australians do not have their wishes legally documented. Even if you don't believe your assets to be worthy, everyone deserves to choose who will benefit from their estate.
What can I leave to The Mary Potter Foundation?
You may leave cash or assets. Assets can include real estate, shares, insurance policies, art, silver or personal effects. To avoid any complications or misunderstandings, it's a good idea to ascertain how your bequest can be made most effective and beneficial to the Foundation. Your trustee or lawyer will be able to help you with this, or you could talk confidentially to our Executive Director Cathy Murphy.
Suggested wording for your Will
"I bequeath unto THE MARY POTTER FOUNDATION INC. the sum of $............... for its general purposes, free from the payment of debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and any duties payable in respect of my estate and declare that the receipt of the Secretary or other proper officer of The Mary Potter Foundation Inc. shall be sufficient discharge to my Executors in respect thereof."
If you decide to include a gift to the Mary Potter Foundation in your Will, please let us know. A surprise is wonderful, but we would like to get to know you, and give you the recognition a partner in an important service deserves and keep you informed of what is happening at the Foundation. We also respect that maybe you would rather do this anonymously. Either way, if we can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to call us. We are happy to help.
Living Gifts
A Living Gift is a wonderful way of ensuring a lasting tribute to the Foundation. Unlike a Bequest that is administered once the donor has passed away, a Living Gift is given prior to death, meaning that you will receive the benefit of a tax deduction. And importantly, the Mary Potter Foundation can share with you exactly how your gift will be used.
Please phone the Foundation Office on (08) 8239 0119 if you would like more information.
